We were traveling from California and had a flatbed truck loaded with equipment. When we engaged in conversation with a police officer at the airport and told him we were headed for this hotel, he strongly warned us not to go, because there were many homeless encampments near the hotel, it was a bad area and we would likely have whatever could be stolen off our truck go missing.
We tried to call the hotel, but it was late and we could never get through to anyone to cancel our paid reservation. We went to another hotel in a safer area.

This place is great!!! A huge room with upgrades (I’m getting a shower head and faucet set like them for my house) and you get a full kitchen! Like seriously, I’m going to start looking for these places when I travel. The breakfast was good too 😁

Love the charm of this beautiful old building. Rooms are small but have updated amenities and are comfortable. Great view of the falls and city from our 3rd floor room.

Been here a couple times for musicals, visiting family and staying before/after flights from the airport. They have lovely parks and green spaces. It is far to get places and some neighborhoods look rough from those who are homeless in the interior, but safe enough that I've walked the streets at night to and from bars/restaurants.

Spokane has just enough things to do, that it isn't so overwhelming. We loved Riverfront park, the gondola ride, Boo Bradleys. The coffee shop Atticus was so busy and cool.
The Spaghetti Factory was a hit with my girls and the service was most excellent.

I don’t know why anyone would go to Spokane unless they were forced to. I saw so many homeless people, streets were dirty with people looking through trash. I was staying near downtown by the convention center. Luckily I found a safe place to stay but everything seemed to have issues with people trying to use restrooms or just loitering. Don’t bring small children, there’s nothing for them to do but hide in the room all day.

Spokane used to be nice.
Spokane used to be nice. Now it is plagued with the worst drug and transient problem I have ever seen. I have lived here for 35 years. Downtown, you will literally have people shooting up or smoking crack/meth in the open. Hookers walking around. The mayor declared a public health emergency because of all the drugs being done downtown. Spokane is just a dying shithole.

First, I was born in Spokane, then swept away as an infant never to return until this summer (at age 72!) when a business trip to Kennewick, Washington for my husband, put me close enough to enjoy 24 hours in Spokane.
The World's Fair of 1974 encouraged Spokane to do a major cleanup of the railyards and the waterfront. The remnants of the fair still exist and the waterfront is beautiful and fun. We rode in a skyride over the waterfall in downtown Spokane. Yes there is a waterfall downtown and it is gorgeous. We also rode on the indoor carousel. We walked extensively in the waterfront area. There is lots of parking albeit mostly paid. We went up to the exquisite Manito Park overlooking the city in a beautiful area of old homes many mid-century or craftsman. We had an amazing breakfast at a restaurant called the Old European, yum.
There is an outdoor skating path in downtown where you can rent skates and it is iced over in the winter for ice skating as they also rent ice skates.

4 of us stayed in 1 room. Bathroom is small but we managed. Although an older hotel the rooms have been updated with cool retro furnishing and the beds were super comfy. Right downtown almost under the freeway but still surprisingly quiet. We all slept through the night. Front desk staff were really pleasant.
One thing I would have liked them to provide is glassware should you want a beverage in your room. They only have paper cups. Wine in a paper cup is just wrong.
The apartments are nicely located near Spokane center and close to the Health Sciences campus of WSU. The appartments are clean and well equipped, but are very different depending on which apartment you are staying. I stayed on the 2nd floor in an "inside" appartment with barely daylight in the first week, and then after immediately complaining, on the 4th floor with 5 windows in the 2nd week. Having booked and prepaid for 2 weeks I was thus 50% satisfied.
The food at the restaurant was amazing, the river walk access was so cool, the rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable. Our new go-to in Spokane. Next time we’ll check out the pool!
